Available Position: Social Worker I, A & T (Investigations,
Assessment and Treatment)
County Pay Grade: 70
Salary Range: $33,153 - $53,638 (In the event we are unable
to recruit a qualified SW I, A&T a lesser qualified applicant may be
hired in a work-against status at a lower rate of pay)

Job Description: This position involves interviewing and/or
assessing children who are reported to be abused, neglected or
dependent. The interviews would also include parents or other
caretakers. The worker would need to use professional judgment in
assessing the facts of the case, the extent of the abuse or neglect
and the degree of risk to the child in order to determine if
protective services should be provided or a petition filed for
custody of the child. This worker is responsible for filing
petitions where abuse, neglect or dependency has been substantiated
and the protection of the court is necessary. Also, this person will
be providing, arranging for and coordinating interventions and
services as needed for children ages birth to 18 years of age who
have been abused, neglected and/or dependent and to their parents or
caregivers in order to focus on child safety and protection, family
preservation and the prevention of future abuse, neglect and/or
dependency. Work must be accurate and done in accordance with state
law. Worker must be able to communicate well with clients,
supervisors and co-workers and also possess the ability to make
independent decisions when needed.
Minimum Training and Experience: Master’s degree from an
accredited school of Social Work and one year of social work or
counseling experience; OR a bachelor’s degree from an accredited
school of social work and two years of social work or counseling
experience; OR a master’s degree in counseling field and two years
of social work or counseling experience; OR four year degree in a
human services field or related curriculum including at least 15
semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and
three years of social work or counseling experience; OR graduation
from a four-year college or university and four years of experience
in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, or a related
human service field providing experience in the techniques of
casework, group work, or
community organization; OR an equivalent combination of training
and experience.
