    The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners will gather at the Cherokee County Maintenance Facility at 180 Marks Drive in Murphy on Tuesday, November 7th at 6:30 p.m. for the official re-naming of the Cherokee County Maintenance Facility to the Justin Hamby Maintenance Facility. Justin was the former Cherokee County Facilities Director. He passed away earlier this year following an extended battle with cancer. This Sunshine notice is being given because all Board members will be in attendance. No county business will be conducted, aside from the building dedication.

    In finding that a quorum of the Board of Cherokee County Commissioners was present at Grace Fellowship Church in Andrews, NC at 3 p.m. on Thursday, November 9th, for a closed briefing by the USFS regarding the Collett Ridge Fire, the Chairman of the Board, pursuant to NCGS 153A-40 (b) called to order an emergency meeting of the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners for the sole purpose of addressing the Collett Ridge Fire. No other matters of business were discussed during the course of the meeting. The Clerk was ordered to take minutes of the meeting and to make an announcement of the meeting to the sunshine list and on the county website as soon as reasonably possible following the meeting.
