DIAL 911 IN AN EMERGENCY
Post emergency telephone numbers by phone. All emergency calls must be directed to the 911 Communication Center. This includes medical, fire, rescue and law enforcement. Be prepared to give them your name, address, phone number and a brief description of what your need is.

TEACH CHILDREN WHAT TO DO
Teach children how and when to call 911.

MONITOR RADIO AND TV
When a disaster is threatening Cherokee County, continually monitor radio and/or TV to determine if your community is in an evacuation area.

KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A WATCH AND A WARNING
During severe weather you may hear that a "watch" has been issued. This means that the conditions are favorable to cause severe weather. A "warning" means that the severe weather is occurring.
