Outdoor Burning Permits and Regulation Information
WHAT CAN I BURN?
The State has very strict laws on open burning. These laws apply
county wide, including inside the City Limits of Murphy and Andrews.
Only leaves, branches, and other plant growth can be burned. It
is illegal to burn the following materials:
- Garbage, paper, and cardboard
- Tires and other rubber products
- Building materials, including lumber
- Wire, plastics, and synthetic materials
- Asphalt shingles and heavy oils
- Paints, household and agricultural
chemicals
DO I NEED A PERMIT TO BURN?
Burning Permits are required in the unincorporated areas of the
county and inside the Andrews City Limits. Burning permits are not
required inside the Murphy City Limits.
