Cherokee County Extension Office

A CENTER OF THE NORTH CAROLINA COOPERATIVE EXTENSION SERVICE

The faster the world changes, the greater the need to learn. Rapid changes in society, in economic conditions, in families, in the environment and in technology have created an ever-growing need and desire for continuing education.

The Extension Service is a partnership involving the U.S. Department of Agriculture, state and county governments, and our two land-grant universities: North Carolina State University at Raleigh and North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro.

The Cooperative Extension Service provides useful research-based information and nonformal learning opportunities. These are available through extension agents and staff in each county and on the Cherokee Indian Reservation. County personnel are supported by a staff of subject matter specialists at both universities.

The Extension Service helps people gain knowledge and put it to work in areas such as agriculture, family and consumer education, 4-H and youth, and community and rural development.
