Welcome to the Cherokee County Mapping/ GIS Department. GIS is
an acronym for Geographic Information System. A GIS is an organized
collection of computer hardware, software, personnel, and geographic
data that is utilized to create, maintain, store, analyze, and
display geographically referenced information. Many of the County's
departments and officials, and other public agencies as well as the
private sector are now using the Mapping /GIS Department to help
them to turn raw data into spatially referenced information. This
in turn, allows the county and the public to better organize
workflow, identify relationships, patterns, and trends occurring in
our county; and to provide solutions to everyday problems.
