Tax Assessor

Residents are required by law to list all personal property, except registered vehicles, that are owned as of January 1 of the current year. The listing period begins January 1 and ends January 31.

Personal property consists of the following:

  • Singlewide mobile homes
  • Boats and motors
  • Jet ski's
  • Unlicensed trailers, campers, and motorcycles
  • Untagged vehicles
     

Exemptions and exclusions

All persons 65 years of age or all persons permanently disabled with a home or mobile home, that is their permanent residence, whose income for the 2008 tax year is $25,000 or less entitled to a an exemption of  $25,000 or ½ off the value of qualifying land/structures whichever is greater.  . Forms for this exemption are available in the Tax Appraiser's Office and must be signed by the applicant. Proof of income must be submitted. Any taxpayer that is already receiving this exemption does not need to apply again UNLESS there has been a change in their property, i.e. sold, re-deeded in a different name, change in marital status.


All applications for charitable and or religious exemptions must be filed in the month of January of the current year.
