Environmental Health is located in the Cherokee County Health Department's Murphy Office at 228 Hilton Street, Murphy NC 28906.
ATTENTION: The Cherokee County Health Department (CCHD) Environmental Health On-Site Water Protection Section will be implementing a change in policy effective January 1, 2015 due to a position statement issued December 15, 2014 by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Division of Public Health On-Site Water Protection Branch.
Effective January 1, 2015 Construction Authorizations (CA) will not be transferrable to different owners. The Improvement Permit (IP) is transferrable to subsequent owners as long as the site and the proposed facility remain unchanged. Any CA issued after January 1, 2015 will have to be in the current owners name to be valid. If a lot is sold with a CA issued after January 1, 2015, the new owner must file an application for a new CA before a building permit can be obtained. The CCHD shall issue a new CA after determining by field investigation that the IP remains valid. Please Contact the CCHD Environmental Health Section at 828-835-3853 with any questions.
