Home Delivered Meals:
Volunteer drivers take a nutritious, catered meal to the homebound citizens who are 60 years or older and their full-time, unpaid caregivers. These homebound people must be unable to cook nutritious meals, due to physical and / or mental impairments. Contributions are encouraged. Cancellation of a meal requires one day’s advance notice.
Home Improvement Assistance:
Cherokee County offers this service to senior citizens who are low-income and cannot afford to have the repairs done. These services include: Building ramps, repairing steps and porches, leaking roofs, heating or water problems, replacing old appliances, etc.
Rides are provided by Cherokee County Transit for seniors to visit the senior sites for lunches, activities, medical appointments, shopping, pharmacy, banks, post office, etc. One days advanced notice is required and contributions are encouraged.
Many seniors need other help and we provide information about other agencies: Social Services, Health Department, Food Pantry, Home Health Agencies, SHIIP (Senior Health Insurance Information Program), Social Security, Vision, Hearing and PDP (Prescription Drug Program).
