Election Board

The election board is made up of three members, elected to two-year terms; the current term will expire in 2013:

• Gary Kilpatrick, Chairman
• John Carringer, Secretary
• Jeremiah Brinke, Board Member

Objective

The goal of the Cherokee County Board of Elections is to provide lawful, efficient, and timely execution of all elections. Our objective is to strive toward a progressive election process that meets every measure of the law as well as the demands of the 21st Century. We aim to provide fair elections for the Federal Government, the State of North Carolina, and Cherokee County.

Upcoming Elections

• Persons wishing to register and vote after the registration deadline may appear in person during the one-stop voting period, complete the voter registration application form and provide proof of residence by presenting valid documents showing current name and address.

• The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012.
• Early Voting will begin at the Board of Elections office on October 18, 2012 and end on Saturday, November 3, 2012. Early Voting hours will be M-F from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Voting hours will be extended on November 3rd from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. 
• Last Day to request an absentee by mail is October 30, 2012.
• Last day to register to vote is October 12, 2012.
