PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
The Cherokee Cou nty Board of Commissioners announces its intent to adopt a resolution incr easing the Cherokee County room occupancy tax by an additional two percent (2%)\, for a total room occupancy tax of six percent (6%)\, to take effec t July 1\, 2026. The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners will hold a pu blic hearing on May 4th at 5:30 p.m. for the purpose of receiving public i nput on this matter. The public hearing will be held at the Cherokee Count y Courthouse\, Room 342\, 75 Peachtree St.\, Murphy. Public comments can a lso be submitted to the Clerk to the Board at maria.hass@cherokeecounty-nc.g ov. \;
Owners/managers of accommodations\, including hotels\ , motels\, tourist camps\, bed &\; breakfasts\, cabins\, resorts and co ttages or similar places within Cherokee County rented for periods of less than 90 consecutive days per renter\; are currently required to collect f our (4%) Occupancy Tax on the gross rent charged.
