Chapman was born on the Outer banks of North Carolina and later moved to Clay County where he graduated from Hayesville High School. He began his career with the Cherokee County Office of the Sheriff in 2004 in detention and attended Basic Law Enforcement Training in 2007 through Haywood Community College. He began work for the Office of the Sheriff as a uniformed patrol officer.
Jacob earned the rank of corporal in 2010 and served in that position before being promoted to the rank of Detective in 2011. Jacob currently serves as an operator on the SERT Team in the capacity of “Bravo Team Leader.” Detective Peck-Chapman has received training in SWAT, Emergency Medicine, Arson Investigations, and Interview and Interrogation.
